HCS Names and Welcomes New School Leaders

Hoover City Schools is proud to announce several amazing educators and school leaders who will serve as assistant principals for the 2026-2027 school year. Each of these individuals brings valuable experience, a love for education, and a strong commitment to supporting students, staff, and families. Their leadership will help continue the momentum across Hoover City Schools as we prepare for another great school year.

Berry Middle School - Darrius Taylor

Hoover City Schools is proud to welcome Darrius Taylor as the new assistant principal at Berry Middle School. Bringing 18 years of experience in education, he returns to Hoover City Schools with a strong background in teaching, coaching, and school leadership.

Taylor began his teaching career in Florida before joining Spain Park High School, where he spent nine years as a social studies teacher and assistant football coach for the Jaguars. During his time at Spain Park, he built strong relationships with students, staff, and families while supporting both academic and athletic programs. 

He joins Berry Middle School from Leeds High School, where he currently serves as assistant principal. In his current role, he has supported the principal in managing daily school operations, led student discipline processes, including behavior interventions and restorative practices, supervised and evaluated teachers to support instructional growth, and coordinated school-wide programs, testing schedules, and academic initiatives. Shades Mountain Elementary - Lindsay Morgan

Hoover City Schools is proud to announce Lindsay Morgan as the next assistant principal at Shades Mountain Elementary School. With 15 years of experience in education, she brings a strong passion for supporting students, teachers, and families through collaborative leadership and a commitment to student success.

Morgan has served as assistant principal at Trace Crossings Elementary School for the past four years. Since joining Hoover City Schools, she has worked as an exceptional education teacher and school leader, working closely with staff and students across all grade levels to support instruction and student achievement. Additionally, she has facilitated a collaborative partnership with Samford University to make it possible for students in their junior year to be placed in classrooms to gain classroom experience. Due to her hard work and dedication to this partnership, Morgan was awarded the Samford University Learning for Life Award in 2025. 

Prior to joining Hoover City Schools, she worked in Tarrant City Schools as a classroom teacher and reading specialist. Throughout her career, she has focused on building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and helping create positive learning environments where all students can succeed. Ira F Simmons Middle School - Logan Greene

Hoover City Schools is proud to announce Logan Greene as Assistant Principal at Simmons Middle School. With 19 years of experience in education, he brings a strong background in instruction, leadership, and student support to his role at Simmons Middle School. Greene joins the Simmons family from Berry Middle School, where he served for the past five years.

Over the course of his career, he has served as both a teacher and coach at the middle and high school levels. While at Berry Middle School, he taught all three grade levels in both English language arts and social studies, giving him a strong understanding of the academic and developmental needs of middle school students. In addition to his classroom experience, he has participated in Hoover City Schools’ Future Administrator Program, served as Berry’s communications chair, and contributed to the district’s textbook adoption committee. He has also presented on best teaching practices at conferences and institutions across the country, including the National World War II Museum, Tulane University, Florida Atlantic University, and Clemson University.

Greene has received numerous honors recognizing his impact as an educator and leader, including being named Berry Middle School Teacher of the Year, a Secondary Teacher of the Year finalist in Jefferson County Schools, the 2024 Robert I. Goldman National Holocaust Educator of the Year, a United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Teacher Fellow and Teacher Fellow Mentor, and the University of North Alabama Outstanding Graduate in the Educational Specialist Program. Trace Crossings Elementary - Alyson Patton

Hoover City Schools is proud to welcome Alyson Patton as the new assistant principal at Trace Crossings Elementary School. With 14 years of experience in education, she currently serves as an exceptional education teacher at Bluff Park Elementary School, where she has worked for the past two years.

Prior to joining Bluff Park Elementary School, Patton served at Fultondale Elementary School, where she taught exceptional education, third grade, and fifth grade, and supported students and staff through various leadership roles. During her time at Fultondale, she served as a mentor to new teachers, a grade-level lead teacher, and a parent involvement coordinator. She also helped oversee school operations through her leadership as the school’s budget committee president and worked to strengthen school communication and family engagement as the school’s parent and teacher communication director.

Her dedication to education and leadership has earned her several recognitions throughout her career. She was named Fultondale Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year and later selected as the 2023 Jefferson County Elementary Teacher of the Year. Patton was also recognized as the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Education Outstanding Master’s Student. Click here to learn more about Mrs. Patton.
