Hoover City Schools School Board

Our school board is dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can achieve academic excellence and personal growth in a safe and supportive setting.

As elected representatives of our community, we are committed to making informed decisions that shape the future of our schools. Our responsibilities include:

  • Policy Development: Crafting and implementing policies that promote high educational standards and equity.
  • Budget Oversight: Ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support student learning and well-being.
  • Superintendent Supervision: Collaborating with and providing oversight for the Superintendent to ensure the district's strategic goals are met.
  • Curriculum and Instruction: Evaluating and approving curricula that meet the diverse needs of our students and prepare them for future success.
  • Facilities Management: Overseeing the maintenance and improvement of school facilities to provide a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Community Engagement: Encouraging active participation from parents, students, teachers, and community members to foster a collaborative educational community.

*All regular meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. CST unless otherwise stated. Work sessions, when held, will have the time noted.  Physical meetings are held at 2810 Metropolitan Way, Hoover 35243, unless otherwise stated.

 **At its election, the Board may allow a set time for public comment at regularly scheduled meetings. Speakers must register to speak with the designated Board representative before the meeting. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes. If there are multiple speakers on the same topic, the number of speakers may be limited at the discretion of the Board President.

Kermit Kendrick

BOARD PRESIDENT -MR. KERMIT KENDRICK

Mr. Kermit Kendrick currently serves as the president of the Hoover City Schools Board of Education. He was appointed to the Hoover City Schools Board of Education in 2017.

Alan Paquette

BOARD VICE PRESIDENT - MR. ALAN PAQUETTE

Mr. Alan Paquette currently serves as the vice president of the Hoover City Board of Education. He was appointed to the Hoover City Board of Education in 2021.

BOARD MEMBER - MRS. AMY TOSNEY

Mrs. Amy Tosney currently serves as a Board of Education member for the Hoover City Board of Education. She was appointed to the Hoover City Board of Education in 2017 and reappointed in 2022.
