Hoover City Schools is pleased to welcome Dr. Kristi Sayers back to the Hoover family as the new principal of Hoover High School. With more than 32 years of experience in education, Dr. Sayers brings a deep knowledge of instructional leadership and a strong connection to our district, having taught 14 years in HCS.

Throughout her career, she has served as a teacher, assistant principal, secondary curriculum specialist, and professional development supervisor. She also served as principal of Oak Mountain High School for seven years, where she led efforts to raise student achievement and implemented a continuous improvement plan to strengthen instructional processes and monitor student achievement. Her educational contributions have been recognized through several honors, including being named the District 5 Alabama High School Principal of the Year.

“I’m excited to return to a district and community that mean so much to me,” said Dr. Sayers. “Hoover High School has a proud tradition, and I look forward to supporting the students, staff, and families as we work together to continue that legacy of excellence.”

After retiring from school administration, Dr. Sayers continued to support educators across the state as an Alabama client partner for FranklinCovey Education. In that role, she collaborated with district leaders to implement strategies focused on student and staff development and supported more than 40 schools statewide.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sayers back to Hoover,” said Superintendent Dr. Kevin Maddox. “She brings a depth of knowledge in education, a passion for student growth, and a strong leadership presence. Her vision and experience will be an incredible asset to the Hoover High School community.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Alabama, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Montevallo, and both an educational specialist degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Hogan retired effective July 1 after dedicating 29 years to education. Dr. Sayers will step into the HHS Principal role on July 9.
